Being a team player is everything if you want to get ahead in life and business.
Today’s insight (WashingtonExec.com) is from Kevin Jackson, Corporate Director, Business Development, for U.S. Air Force Systems of ATK’s Washington Operations Office.
1. “ If you don’t know where you are going any road will take you there” – You must take the time to determine what you are trying to accomplish, put the time in to plan and even sometimes read or ask for directions to arrive at the place that was intended.
2. “ Can’t pour water into a cup that is already full” – If you are not open to listen to new ideas because you think you already know it all or are not willing to listen. Remember we have two ears and one mouth for a reason.
3. “The purpose of life is to discover your gift, the meaning of life is to give your gift away” – This reflects on the fact that you should strive to attain the stature and riches that are possible because of your gift. But you should also be mindful of either sharing your gift with others less fortunate or utilizing your gift for the good of humanity. Making the world a better place.
4. Last one “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” – This reminds us that the power of collaboration, seeking assistance and utilizing others, enables us to achieve greater results. There is no “I” in team.
Where could you use a teammate? What stays on your to-do list week after week? Develop strategies to do more of the work you love, and build a team to help you with the rest.
