Disorganization creates busywork – busywork eats away at our productive time – less productive time leads to less profitability… and so on.
It’s tricky to quantify the benefits of being organized, but I think everyone can agree that time savings is a biggie. Organized business owners have more time and focus to better strengthen customer relationships, which is crucial to every business.
Adam Pash, editor-in-chief of lifehacker.com, believes the best gauge of being well organized, “is just the lack of anxiety that comes from a clean comfortable workspace where you feel like things aren’t piling up and overwhelming you.” If you’re less anxious you’re going to be more focused, and if you’re more focused you’ll be more productive.
Some things you can do to maximize your time (after you get organized!):
- Minimize distractions
- Delegate what you can
- Don’t try to do too many things at once
- Take breaks & clear your mind; the best ideas come when you least expect it
